Specification for the labelling of Retail Packages of Tobacco Products

This Draft Guyana Standard is the revision of GYS 9-3:1997, “Specification for labelling of commodities – Part 3: Labelling of cigarettes.”

In the revision of this standard, information was reproduced from the Draft Caricom Standard, “Labelling of retail packages of cigarettes” and the World Health Organisation (WHO) Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC), 2005.

This standard was revised to set requirements for the labelling of tobacco products with health warning statements, to be used throughout Guyana. Also to include the FCTC requirements on tobacco products.

The Ministry of Health and the Guyana Bureau of Standards wish to invite the relevant stakeholders and the general public to provide comments and feedback on the proposed standard to rkaran@gnbs.info.
